Back-to-School is Thursday @6:00

September is Attendance Awareness Month!

Attendance gaps turn into achievement gaps!  Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work.

Lunch Price Increase

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In an effort to keep up with the Federal Equity Pricing Standard, we will be increasing our elementary lunch price; the price will be $0.45 bringing the cost of the lunch meal from $2.55 to $3.00.  The increase will take effect on the first day of school, August 25, 2015.

We hope that you continue to support our food service program as the meals are still a great value and in compliance with the Healthy Hunger Free Kids act.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

CA Physical Education Requirement Accountability

Students in grades 1-5, at all four elementary schools in the Martinez Unified School District, actively engage in the California requirement of 200 minutes of Physical Education every 10 days.  In order to assure compliance with this legal requirement, each site has established “Prep C” protocols for those grade levels that may not reach the 200 minute requirements due to minimum days, teacher prep, and / or assemblies.  These established practices of running laps, dance & movement, and cardio-conditioning outside of the PE class are documented and verified by the site administration on a monthly basis.

Fact Sheets on Ebola

It is important to know that there are no reported cases of Ebola in Contra Costa County, or anywhere in California, and the risk is very low. But there are plans in place to contain the disease and protect the public in the unlikely event of a local case.  Here is a letter from Contra Costa Health Services Department and a fact sheet in English and a fact sheet in Spanish.
