About Benxi Elementary


Our sister school was founded in 1994 as the 1st foreign language school of Benxi.

Their school has: 2,157 students, 150 teachers, and 47 classrooms.

Similar to Las Juntas, they focus on rigorous instruction in academics, athletics, and the arts.

Benxi Elementary School

The sister school of Las Juntas is located in Benxi City, in the Liaoning Province, in the country of China.


Benxi has a population of 1.7 million people. It is located near a major city, Shenyang, which has a population of 8 million people. Map view of Benxi City.


The Sister School Agreement

  • Creates an opportunity for a cultural and education exchange between Martinez and Benxi. 
  • Forms a hands-on experience to expand the understanding and awareness of other cultures
  • Allows students to see the world in new ways and to recognize the many similarities and unique differences between our cultures and educational programs
  • Provide opportunities for the teachers from Martinez and Benxi to share model teaching practices and to learn from one another
